Rhythm Heaven is a rhythm game franchise or intellectual property by Nintendo and Tsunku♂. This Nintendo IP is one of the main video games in The Psych Ward, as it is beloved by some of the members, both current and previous (Notably Sara, Sans, and Zeo).

History

Rhythm Tengoku (2006)

GBA

Rhythm Tengoku (also known as Rhythm Heaven GBA[citation needed]) is the first game in the Rhythm Heaven franchise, released only in Japan on 3rd of August 2006 on the Nintendo GBA, making it the last first party game on the GBA (leading to it being sold as a DS game[citation needed]), this game has the least amount of minigames among all of Rhythm Heaven, containing only 48 Minigames, although Rhythm Tengoku includes 8 sets of 6 minigames, making it the only Rhythm Heaven game with 6 minigames per set, instead of the usual 5. Rhythm Tengoku's exclusivity to Japan has lead to two fan-made localization projects, the first one being Rhythm Heaven Silver (Please refer to the RHWiki for more information), later on the Rhythm Heaven Advance project was born, including more modern localization, and as of 2026 added localized audio[1].

Arcade

Rhythm Tengoku is the only GBA game to get an arcade release, ported to the SEGA NAOMI platform, it was developed by Nintendo and published by SEGA, released in 2007, one year after the release of the GBA game. This version differentiates itself from the GBA release by having "Tempo Up!" versions of the first set[2][3].

Rhythm Heaven (2008)

Rhythm Heaven (also known as Rhythm Tengoku Gold in Japanese, Rhythm Paradise in PAL, and Rhythm World in Korea) is the second game in the Rhythm Heaven franchise and the first globally released one, released at the end of the life cycle of the DS, Rhythm Heaven contains 10 sets of 5 minigames each, totaling at 50 minigames (40 Minigames and 10 Remixes), this is not including the 6 Endless minigames and 7 Rhythm Toys. Rhythm Heaven is the only entry in the franchise to contain vocal localization of multiple European language.

Rhythm Heaven Fever (2011)

Rhythm Heaven Fever (known as Minna No Rhythm Tengoku in Japan, Beat The Beat: Rhythm Paradise in PAL, and Rhythm World Wii in Korea), is the third game in the Rhythm Heaven franchise and the most well known one, being released on the Wii, it helped push its popularity, although as rest of the Rhythm Heaven franchise, it was released at the end cycle of its console. Rhythm Heaven Fever had vocal localization only in English, the PAL release tries to accommodate for this by having a JP/EN language switch[4], this is also the first game to introduce Endless Remix.
